Is Jesus Scamming Some? (The Age Of Mega Mentality)

_"His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord." — Matthew 25:21_

Last on our Selah!—Christian reflection,_ we ended with a sobering self-audit: asking ourselves whether our "planting" is truly of God or merely the weed of our own wanting—which may be why the Master is not giving growth.

But what about the saint who knows he is working on a project sanctioned by the Father, yet watches the horizon for a harvest that has refused to appear? Or what about the devout faithful who is striving to get his spiritual walk right, yet the reality seems stalled?
In an era where many believers are primed on the mantra that "results silences insults" and the merchants of the "more" gospel insist that "if God is in it, it must be mega," many who witness the contrary are left wondering if they are being fooled by the promises of the Scriptures.
Is Jesus scamming some?

Consider the 1900 Boxer Rebellion in China. For decades, Hudson Taylor had poured his life into the China Inland Mission. Then, in a sudden wave of anti-Christian violence, his mission stations were decimated and his colleagues murdered. When news reached Taylor who was now frail in health in Switzerland that his life’s labor was being erased, he was overwhelmed. Unable to pray in the traditional sense, Taylor did not rail against a supposed "failed" mission. Instead, he was found repeatedly whistling and humming the words: _"Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting."_
To the "Mega" mindset, Taylor’s situation looked like a scam—a lifetime of faith rewarded with destruction. But Taylor knew a secret the modern world has forgotten: *Visibility is not always evidence of Divine presence.*

_"Let God be true, though every man be a liar..." — Romans 3:4._ It is the "more" gospel that has failed men, but the God of the seed remains forever faithful. He is not a debtor to any man’s expectations, nor a hostage to our timelines; for His longing is not for the monuments of men, but for their quiet constancy in the hidden seasons.

Fact is, if God is involved, the work is already glorified, regardless of its scale. We are called to be faithful, not "super busy" trying to manufacture growth that only the Holy Spirit can give. As the Master asked in Luke 12:42-44: _"...Who then is that faithful and wise steward... Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing."_
In the parable of the talents, the Master didn't give a grander welcome to the servant with five talents than He did to the one with two. To both, the commendation was identical, a singular harmony of grace: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Such should be the holy ambition of every pilgrim.

Our God will not reward us based on the multitude of our labor or the square footage of our "success," but on our faithfulness to our assignment. Whether we lead thousands or teach a Sunday School class of three, our reward is tied to our obedience to the blueprint.
You are not being scammed; you are being entrusted with a specific portion of the Master's estate. O, how blessed are we if we faithfully tend it.

May we be delivered from the envy of the "mega" and find our melody of rest in the Master’s "well done."
