The Latter House's Glory III (The Faithfulness of Moses)

"And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant,..."—Hebrews 3:5.

In our last reflection, we saw that although "houses of God" abound throughout the world, yet the Living God dwells in none of them.
However, it must never be presumed that God has no part in any house called by His name.
Ironically, the first structure raised in the name of the Living God was built with precise details provided by God Himself.

Called "The Tabernacle of Meeting"  or "The Tent of Meeting," although this structure was filled with symbolic items that served as shadows of the things to come, God nonetheless provided precise instructions for its construction. As Hebrews 8:5 states, "...Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount."
And because Moses was faithful in following the instructions he received, God's presence came upon the tabernacle ones it was completed; as it is written: "... So Moses finished the work. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle."—Exodus 40:33-34.

Here is wisdom: the preaching of God's word in all soundness, power and faithfulness is the secret to bringing God's presence upon His household, "...which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."— 1 Timothy 3:15.
Here, we see that the Israelites, led by 'Pastor Moses', as a household with a designated place of meeting, constituted God's first church, just as Stephen later referred to them as, "...the church in the wilderness..."—Acts 7:38.
Apparently, it has been an integral part of God's eternal plan to raise a church unto Himself.
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, left us a most gracious promise, saying, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."—Matthew 18:20. The Hebrew writer therefore admonished, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;..."—Hebrews 10:25.

Besides, when the redeemed of the Lord gather as a church, they not only partake in the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit, but they also play out a shadow of a future reality. Specifically, that in the age to come, the Lord will gather to Himself all those who are His from every corner of the Earth. The apostle, John, saw this in his vision: "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;"—Revelation 7:9.

May God be praised, who by His grace has chosen us to be members of His universal church in Christ. Amen!
